Rasmus Hojlund could make his Manchester United debut as early as this weekend after missing the opening two fixtures through injury.
The 20-year-old’s maiden outing is being eagerly awaited by the Old Trafford faithful, who have pinned their hopes on the striker solving some of the club’s woeful finishing problems.
After the first two matches of the campaign, Raphael Varane is the Red Devils’ top goalscorer after his header proved just enough to overturn Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 last Monday. United then failed to score against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Hojlund’s debut on the horizon
According to Mail Sport, Hojlund, who signed in a £72 million package from Atalanta this July, is likely to be included in the club’s matchday squad when they take on Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday, August 26.
Erik ten Hag is hoping his new forward will be able to make the substitutes’ bench, so fans can expect a late cameo from the Dane.
It remains to be seen who will start up top for United though; Anthony Martial has just returned from injury so may be given the nod, while Marcus Rashford is fully fit but looks unsettled when deployed as a No.9 rather than on the left wing.
