Everton reignite interest in Harry Maguire as United’s centre-back target agrees Inter move – report

Everton have reportedly signalled their interest in Harry Maguire in recent days, according to Rudy Galetti via GiveMeSport

Earlier this month, Manchester United accepted a £30 million bid from West Ham United in a deal that would’ve seen their ex-club captain make the switch to the London Stadium.

However, the transfer collapsed after Maguire failed to reach personal terms with the West Ham board. They have since been scouring the market for alternatives.

While negotiations were ongoing over Maguire, United knew that a replacement would be necessary should he leave, and identified Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard as the most suitable option. Reports suggested that personal terms were agreed between the Frenchman and the Red Devils.

Pavard has since approved a move to Inter Milan though, with the Serie A giants already scheduling his imminent medical tests to get the transfer over the line.

Stretty News’ verdict

It seems highly unlikely that United will allow Maguire to leave at this stage in the window, especially after how advanced the Hammers talks went.

Erik ten Hag was evidently keen to bring in Pavard to bolster his defensive options but with him no longer an option and funds limited, the most plausible option is that Maguire stays and fights for his place.
