Andre Onana was perhaps one of the only Manchester United players to be in somewhat positive spirits following yesterday’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
He was also undoubtedly United’s Player of the Match for the second consecutive game, so he’ll have been disappointed to not get a clean sheet to match his performance.
The opener came after the interval from Spurs’ new man Pape Sarr and the second was an own-goal from Lisandro Martinez – one that Onana certainly couldn’t prevent.
Saturday’s loss follows an unconvincing 1-0 win on Monday night for United and it’s clear as day that work needs to be done if Erik ten Hag wants his side competing on all fronts this term.
Onana reacts
Onana also recognises this and is convinced that the manager’s plan for his squad will be successful as the season progresses. He told Sky Sports: “It will come together, we are a big club. Tough times will come, not just in football, it happens in life as well. So we just have to keep calm, keep working, believe, and yeah we’ve done this in the past already so I’m really confident. I’m proud of the guys [and] the way we work.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t win today and [but] I’m really positive. I’m really positive. I know we have to work hard and we’ll do it.”
