(Video) Roy Keane makes feelings clear over whether Manchester United are title contenders

Manchester United are off to another patchy start to a Premier League season as the Reds had their first defeat inflicted on them earlier on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s men made the trip to London to face Tottenham Hotspur and two goals in the second half ensured that United are making the trip back to Manchester emptyhanded.

United were unconvincing in the first game against Wolves and that continued against Spurs, with Ange Postecoglou’s side dominating throughout.

Going into the season, supporters were hopeful that another summer of good recruitment could help catapult United into the title conversation but thus far, that is looking highly unlikely.

Roy Keane, the former United captain, was doing punditry work pitchside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the legendary midfielder made his feelings clear over whether United have what it takes to challenge at the very top this season.

“Title? Forget about it,” he quickly told Sky Sports when asked about the prospect, as seen above.

“You’re in cuckoo land, forget about it! Titles? No chance. Not with their record, their set-pieces, the lack of goals. Yeah, you need to get the striker in so Marcus (Rashford) can go out wide.

“They’ve got the wide players. They’re called fizzy drinks – no good away from home.”

United have shown that they are capable of recovering from poor spells under Ten Hag but the worrying detail to the start of this season has been that both Wolves and Spurs have looked fitter than United.
