Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has tipped his former club to get off to a winning start in this season’s Premier League.
Set to host Wolves at Old Trafford in Monday night’s final game of Game Week One, Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils will be feeling confident they can come away with maximum points.
Not only have the home team had a decent pre-season, as well as made several key signings, including goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is expected to make his competitive debut, but following Julen Lopetegui’s untimely exit last week, new manager Gary O’Neil faces a huge task to get his side up and running.
And echoing just how difficult it will be for the Midlands-based club to travel to the Theatre of Dreams and come away with at least a point, Berbatov believes his old club side will win and has tipped Onana to register his first clean sheet.
“Wolves is a must-win game for United, especially as I expect them to challenge for the title because it’s about time,” the Bulgarian told Betfair, as quoted by MEN.
“There has been a lot happen off the pitch with Wolves this week and they will want to put everything behind them with a win to start well, but I don’t see that happening at Old Trafford. I expect United to win this one. Prediction: 2-0.”
