All roads lead to London for West Ham-bound Harry Maguire.
Manchester United haven’t exactly been pushing Maguire out the door this summer, but West Ham have made their interest clear in recent days after improving their initial bid for the England defender.
West Ham and United have agreed on a £30m deal for Maguire, and another report states they’ve jumped a big hurdle by agreeing personal terms with the centre-back.
Maguire is an expendable squad member after losing his place in the team last season. Given the way his career is heading at United, I don’t think we’ll get anymore than £30m for him next year. That’s why we should take the money and sign a younger and more suitable defender.
The 30-year-old’s situation was made worse this season when he was stripped of the captaincy, but the Daily Mail claims David Moyes will offer Maguire the role as skipper.
That could be what convinces Maguire to join West Ham because he’ll probably need to take a pay cut.
There’s no way the Hammers will match the salary he’s on at United. He can’t expect that anywhere else other than the Saudi Pro League.
