Burnley target move for Manchester United left-back

Burnley want to sign Manchester United left-back Alvaro Fernandez.

According to Sky Sports, the newly promoted Premier League side are interested in signing the 20-year-old, who impressed on loan at Preston in the Championship last term.

The Spain U19 international was part of Manchester United’s pre-season tour squad in the United States. He provided an assist in the defeat against Wrexham and looks like a good prospect for the future.

However, Fernandez is going to find his game time limited if he stays at United next season.

The young Spaniard is currently behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order, with Tyrell Malacia currently second choice when fit.

After coming from Real Madrid’s academy, it’s clear that United have high hopes for Fernandez, so it wouldn’t make sense to let him go on a permanent deal. Hopefully the offer is for a loan move.

Sky Sports claims Burnley are looking for a left-back after last season’s loanee Ian Maatsen returned to Chelsea.

Chelsea want to keep the youngster next season.
