Manchester United are poised to confirm their third signing of the summer, having already added Mason Mount and Andre Onana to the squad.
Erik ten Hag identified a number of areas that he would like to improve this summer and thus far, the Dutchman will have been happy with the business the club has done in the market.
In addition to signing a new goalkeeper and bolstering the midfield, Ten Hag was keen on adding a forward to the ranks and the Reds are now close to doing just that.
Rasmus Hojlund, the Atalanta star, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and after lengthy talks with the Italian side, an agreement has finally been reached.
An announcement has not been made by the club, however. Now, it is being reported that United have delayed the announcement in order to be able to unveil the Danish international at Old Trafford this weekend.
That’s according to talkSPORT, who say that United have agreed a total package of £72m with Atalanta, with the young striker agreeing a five-year contract.
As per the report, Hojlund will be paraded at Old Trafford before the friendly game against Lens on Saturday, continuing the theme of unveiling an arrival at the Theatre of Dreams.
United have done just that in each of the last two summer transfer windows, with Casemiro and Raphael Varane being welcomed at Old Trafford before games.
Hojlund is highly unlikely to take part in any of the friendlies remaining but he could be in the squad to face Wolves in the Premier League curtain-raiser in less than two weeks.
