Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update on Donny van de Beek, Fred and Sofyan Amrabat

Manchester United are not done in this summer’s transfer market as they close in on the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta following lengthy negotiations with the Italian side.

Erik ten Hag has already added Mason Mount to his midfield but departures in that area are expected, with Donny van de Beek and Fred among the players to potentially leave the club before the transfer deadline.

Van de Beek has not made a competitive appearance for the Reds since he sustained a serious knee injury in January this year but the Dutchman is now back in action and starring in pre-season friendlies.

Fred has just one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and is of interest to a number of clubs, including Fulham and Turkish side Galatasaray.

Journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on the two and the impact any departures may have on United adding another midfield to the ranks.

As per the report, United remain in talks with Real Sociedad over a deal to sign Van de Beek, with negotiations set to continue for the next couple of days.

Romano adds that Fred is in a similar position, with the Brazil international certain to leave the club at some point between now and the end of the window.

It’s said that the futures of Van de Beek and Fred are ‘crucial’ in any move to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who has been heavily linked with a move to United.

Despite possibly premature reports of Amrabat’s transfer to the Reds, Romano claims there has not been an official bid for the Moroccan international yet. Amrabat has one year remaining on his contract at Fiorentina and could leave the Italian giants.
