Manchester United star among David Moyes’ key transfer targets for West Ham

David Moyes will want to add to his West Ham squad this summer after losing Declan Rice.

The Hammers will be aiming to build on their Europa Conference League and you’d think the very least David Moyes deserves is the opportunity to sign his own targets.

The former Manchester United manager has put forward two targets he is intent on brining to West Ham, although it is suggested that the club’s recruitment team want to prioritise more long-term options.

According to The Independent, Moyes is intent on brining Harry Maguire and Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse to the London Stadium.

Miguel Delaney reports West Ham would be willing to do a deal for Maguire if they can get him for £20m.

United will push for £10m more than that.

The problem West Ham face is everyone knows they’ve got money to spend after selling Rice to Arsenal for £105m.

That is presumably one of the reasons United were so quick to reject West Ham’s initial bid for Maguire, which was believed to be worth £20m.

  1. No one wants Maaguire because he’s yesterdays man with yesterdays tactics . One exception of course is David Moyes , yesterdays manager with yesterdays tactics . No bidding war for Maguire means Man United either dump him quickly or allow him to stay as an expensive ball boy for combined cost of 40-45 million over the two years of his contract .

  2. No way should the club take on Maguire. Sooner or later and looking likely before Christmas, West Ham will need to sack David Moyes and bring in someone modern minded and comfortable with big squads. No modern manager will tolerate Maguire’s slow turning and lack of knowing what to do when off the ball. Sure he’s strong and yes he’s good in the air but his weaknesses mark him as not worth any £30 million and not up to the demands and standards of any Premiership team with ambition. He’ll just end up again as a permanent bench warmer, and on his wages we really don’t need that.
