Atalanta interested in signing Mason Greenwood on loan

Atalanta are interested in signing Mason Greenwood on loan from Manchester United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United football director John Murtough has held extensive talks with Atalanta officials and has discussed a possible deal to sign striker Rasmus Hojlund with Greenwood going the opposite direction on loan.

The report adds United have decided to loan Greenwood, 21, as Erik ten Hag is reluctant to sell the forward.

Greenwood is under contract at United until 2025 and the club have the option to extend that by a further year.

The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood and United have since been conducting an internal investigation of their own into the matter.

That investigation has been running for five months and it sounds like United have made their decision. Now we can expect something definite to happen before next season begins.

And, it would be a bonus if United could swing Hojlund in the other direction. We need a striker but the market doesn’t have a lot of options appealing to Ten Hag right now. Hojlund looks like the best of the lot.

More when we have it.
