Manchester United are reportedly replacing Newcastle United in pursuit of Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella.

According to FC Inter News, the Red Devils may be willing to meet Inter’s demands for the Italian international after Newcastle were forced to end their interest due to a difference in valuations.

It is reported that the Serie A club could demand as much as €100 million to sanction the exit of Barella, with the player’s agents already aware of United’s interest.

The 26-year-old is contracted in Milan until 2026, hence why the board won’t let him leave for cheap.

United eyeing midfield upgrade

United are also actively trying to bolster their midfield with the signing of Mason Mount. After having two bids rejected, it looks as though they will reach an agreement with Chelsea that sees the Cobham graduate make the switch from blue to red.

If that transfer gets over the line in the coming days, there may be no need for United to table a bid for Barella.
