Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to conclude a deal that will bring Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has been aware of the England international since his loan spell at Vitesse in 2017.
Now there’s a chance Mount come play under Ten Hag after already reaching an agreement over personal terms with Manchester United.
According to Jason Burt of The Telegraph, Ten Hag is adamant United must sign Mount after a bid of £40 million was rejected by Chelsea.
United are set to return with an offer of £50m, however, it is believed Chelsea want an extra £20m (£70m), even though there’s only one year left on his contract.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to make a decision over whether he wants to keep a player who has decided he wants to join United this summer. They also need to move on several of their players to meet FFP requirements after spending excessively since the takeover.
While I would like to see Mount at United, I don’t think United should be spending over £50m to secure his signature.
Of course, a lot will depend on what happens with the takeover.
