Manchester United look like they’ll be missing out on defensive transfer target Kim Min-jae.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich are closing in on a five-year deal for the South Korean, who has been linked with the Red Devils for several weeks.

Romano has confirmed this morning that the transfer is at the “final stages” and unless other interested clubs were to propose a higher salary to Min-jae, he will complete a move to the reigning Bundesliga champions next week.

His release clause can be activated from July 1 and is believed to be in the region of £45 million. It will see him depart Naples after just one year.

The 26-year-old played a pivotal role in ending Napoli’s 33-year wait for the Scudetto, which they lifted last season after an emphatic campaign from start to finish.

Ten Hag’s hands are tied

The news will come as a huge blow for Erik ten Hag, who is seemingly being made to sit idle on the market and watch on as his targets slowly get snapped up by other clubs.

This is largely due to the takeover situation; the Glazers are yet to communicate a preferred bidder in the sale process and so Ten Hag’s plans are impacted by the uncertainty over a transfer budget and the club’s plans.
