Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update on Premier League ace as Man United circle

Manchester United are looking to reinforce a number of areas this summer but signing a striker remains a priority for Erik ten Hag, who was forced into conjuring up several makeshift solutions to solve his side’s misfiring frontline.

Marcus Rashford was the only consistent goalscorer in Ten Hag’s maiden campaign, with the winger scoring 30 goals in all competitions. Cristiano Ronaldo, Wout Weghorst and Anthony Martial all struggled to score goals consistently.

It is believed that Ten Hag is still keen on adding another midfielder to the ranks, however. Ten Hag signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen last summer and although both players enjoyed stunning campaigns, United remain light in that area.

Marcel Sabitzer will return to Bayern Munich at the end of this month and there are question marks over the futures of both Fred and Scott McTominay.

Romeo Lavia, the talented Southampton midfielder, has been linked to a number of top Premier League clubs and the teenager could leave the Saints following their relegation from the top flight.

Lavia joined the club from Manchester City last year but his impressive performances on the south coast have attracted the interest of some of the Premier League’s biggest hitters, including United.

That’s according to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, who has provided an update on the situation.

As per the report, Arsenal, Chelsea and United are all seemingly interested in a move for Lavia but the Gunners look to have made the most headway thus far.

It’s claimed that Arsenal have ‘concrete’ interest in Lavia and have a solid foundation to walk on as they enjoy an ‘excellent’ relationship with Lavia’s camp.

Chelsea are said to be keen as well and United are admirers of Lavia but have not advanced to broker a deal just yet. Manchester City have a buy-back clause in the deal but will not be able to exercise that option until the end of next season.
