Chelsea want a new goalkeeper this summer but it will not be Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United.
It is understood that Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to sign a new goalkeeper to compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Edouard Bendy set to leave the club.
They even held talks with Inter Milan over Andre Onana in April, but the Evening Standard believes Chelsea will now move on to other targets, leaving Manchester United as favourites to sign the Cameroon international.
Onana could cost up to £50 million but United will need to come to a conclusion on David de Gea’s future first. He was an important player at the San Siro last season, playing 41 games across all competitions as Inter finished third in Serie A, won the Coppa Italia and reached the Champions League final.
This report comes after The Guardian claimed that United are considering Onana as a ‘challenger’ to De Gea.
De Gea is among the Red Devils’ longest serving players and one of the few remaining who won the Premier League at Old Trafford, but his performances last season were inconsistent.
A move would see Onana reunited with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.
