(Video) Roy Keane names player Manchester United must get rid of

Manchester United have ended the Premier League season strongly after Erik ten Hag’s men secured a third-place finish by beating Fulham in the final round of the campaign.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes sealed all three points and the Reds will now look forward to a return to the Champions League next season.

Having already won one trophy this season, Ten Hag has the chance to win another next week in a mouthwatering all-Manchester FA Cup final.

The pressure will be on Ten Hag to keep winning silverware after setting the standards in his first season and now, speaking after the season was wrapped up, legendary midfielder Roy Keane has named one player United must get rid of to keep winning trophies.

“They’re patting him on the back there,” Keane told Football Daily on De Gea after the players congratulated the Spaniard on winning the Golden Glove award.

“I’d move him on quickly. He’s not gonna get Man United back to winning trophies, absolutely not. United were bound to improve from last year. This idea of patting him on the head is ridiculous, it’s his job.

“No, you wouldn’t keep him as a number two. He wouldn’t want to be a number two, he’s been the number one at United for 10 years.

“I don’t think so (that De Gea has done well in the past). I think he’s done OK.”

De Gea is out of contract at the club next month and although reports suggest that he is set to sign a two-year extension imminently, no announcement has been made about his future yet.

  1. Captain Keene is spot on & I hope EtH & company are listening.De Gea can’t take us to the next level.Tbis is the best time for both parties to part.ways.Virtually all teams now know his weaknesses & how to exploit them when the chances of him improving are minimal if existent at all.Should Man U decide to stick with him they”ll suffer the consequences come next season.

  2. I agree with Kean, De gea is probs no1 between the sticks but anything beyond the 6 yard box he is useless, useless at passing beyond 6 yard, useless at commanding/directing his defence beyond the box, he has no presence. Time to go.

  3. So many screw ups in the Europa and premier league. Time for him to go. Just one penalty save in a long time. I rather have straight swap with Aston Villas GK. So many great GK around.

  4. You’ll all say what you say but when it comes to shot stopping surely he has been there and often pulled off those extra ordinary saves which we haven’t seen other goal keepers do.
And for that surely there’s no better option but rather to understand his problem that it is passing and work upon it the way Varane, Martinez and Lindelof had done in the past games……he really deserves the barking
