Manchester United sends scouts to watch former Chelsea striker score against AC Milan

Manchester United will be scanning the market for a new striker in the summer. Fans will hope that Erik ten Hag will get his priority target, but he didn’t last year – so it would be  a good idea to ensure our scouting network do their homework this season.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (as cited by The Mirror), Manchester United sent scouts to watch AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham over the weekend. The England international scored in a 1-1 draw against AC Milan.

It is strongly suggested that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is Ten Hag’s priority striker target, but the club is fully aware that dealing with Daniel Levy can be a tricky task.

A look at Abraham’s stats this season won’t fill fans with excitement since he’s only managed eight goals in 32 Serie A matches this term. That doesn’t sound like the sort of addition that will make United title contenders.

Abraham does have experience playing in the Premier League after coming through the ranks at Chelsea.

It is understood that Abraham has a €80 million (£70m) buyback clause in his contract which could give Chelsea an advantage in re-signing the forward.

A lot depends on how much money Ten Hag has at his disposal this summer. There’s a potential takeover in the works and anything can happen from this point.
