Maguire 8, Antony 9: player ratings from Nottingham Forest 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester United have secured their third consecutive win in the Premier League, having gone on a three-game winless run in the league before that.

The win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday was United’s fourth win over the newly-promoted side of the season, with the four meetings between the sides seeing the Reds score ten goals and concede none.

The three points also put them six points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and they also have a game in hand, giving them full control of their league standing.

Antony opened the scoring at the City Ground on Sunday after Anthony Martial’s shot was parried into his path and the Brazil winger was at it again in the second half when he expertly played Diogo Dalot through on goal for the second.

United were dominant throughout and they could, in truth, have polished their goal difference quite a bit if the finishing wasn’t as wasteful.

Man United Player Ratings

David de Gea – 6
Forest had zero shots on target – a quiet evening for the Spaniard. Now up to 14 clean sheets this season and into the lead in the race for the Golden Glove.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8
Seems to have struck quite the understanding with Antony down that right-hand side. Remarkable turnaround over the last four months.

Harry Maguire – 8
Recovered from a poor start to dominate throughout the game and silenced the home crowd.

Victor Lindelof – 8
Back in the side after injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. Great performance.

Diogo Dalot – 8
Comfortable on both flanks and with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both injured, he will need to maintain this level going forward. Took his goal like a forward.

Casemiro – 8
His first appearance in the Premier League since that controversial red card against Southampton and United have missed him badly.

Christian Eriksen – 9
A late inclusion in the starting lineup after Marcel Sabitzer sustained an injury. Masterful.

Antony – 9
If the game against Sevilla was his best performance for United, this comes very close. In truth, it probably trumps it. The latest in a string of very good performances.

Bruno Fernandes – 9
The broadcaster’s choice for Man of the Match and it’s difficult to argue against. Continues to prove why he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Jadon Sancho – 7
It might have taken longer than he would have liked but slowly and surely, it looks like he is growing into the role of playing for United. Good signs.

Anthony Martial – 8
Ten Hag will be praying that Martial can keep fit for the final six weeks of the season. United are a far better side with him in and that was proven today.

  1. It would be really cool if you guys could include a rating for the manager too. EtH is faced with plenty of challenging injuries and team selections right now – it’d be interesting to see how you rate his decision making.
