Erik ten Hag was relieved to see Manchester United finally open the scoring against Everton on Saturday.
The survival-chasing Toffees came to Old Trafford on a four-game league unbeaten streak over the Easter weekend but after the opening 30 minutes of play, it looked fairly certain that run was coming to an end.
Several shots on target went amiss or into the arms of Jordan Pickford in the opening half an hour, but the Red Devils eventually found a breakthrough in the 36th minute. Scott McTominay was assisted by Jadon Sancho to break the deadlock in front of the adoring Stretford End.
