Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has made the shortlist for Championship Young Player of the Season.

The 20-year-old’s scintillating form on loan at Sunderland has seen him nominated for the award along with Bristol City’s Alex Scott and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney. The winners will be announced on Sunday, April 23 and the full shortlist for the EFL awards can be found here.

Across the campaign so far, Amad has contributed 11 goals and three assists in all competitions. Some goals have been sensational finishes, which has led United fans to grow very excited about the prospect of him lining up in Red next season.

Will Amad stay at United next season?

Erik ten Hag has a big decision to make though regarding the youngster as this season has made Amad accustomed to regular first-team football – something he won’t want to give up on his return to Old Trafford.

Consecutive appearances and minutes in the tank are crucial to the Ivorian’s development, which is clear, as he’s come on leaps and bounds under Tony Mowbray over the past months.

Either way, he’s a Red by contract so the decision is up to the club on where his future lies next season, but ultimately it will be with United on a permanent basis.
