Glazers increase Man United asking price but overall sale remains possible

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have already offered £5bn to purchase Manchester United Football Club.

However, according to recent reports, the Red Devils’ current owners, US billionaire family the Glazer family, are holding out for £6bn.

That’s according to a recent report from the Telegraph, who claims the Glazers are holding out for a 20 per cent increase in offers amid concerns that the controversial Americans may not be willing to relinquish total control.

However, despite these fears among fans, it has been reported that the Glazer family ‘remain open to all options’ – suggesting a complete takeover could still be on the cards.

The most expensive takeover for a Premier League club was Chelsea’s, which saw former owner Roman Abramovich sell the club to Todd Boehly for an eye-watering £4.25bn (Bloomberg) last year, therefore, it goes without saying that United’s proposed takeover would smash all records and see United not only become the country’s most valuable club but also the world’s.
