Antony speaks about ‘amazing’ Man United matchday-going fans

Manchester United winger Antony loves the atmosphere inside Old Trafford on matchdays.

The Brazilian winger has started in 14 Premier League games so far this season and is in line to feature against Brentford when the two sides meet at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

And speaking to MUTV, as quoted by The United Stand, the former Ajax wide-man has declared his love and appreciation for all the fans who turn out week-in-week-out to support the team.

“I always say to my friends and family that the fans [inside Old Trafford] are amazing, all 73,000 of them,” United’s number 21 said.

[…] “They always help and support us and give us that extra motivation. With a stadium full of fans creating that atmosphere every game, we’re motivated even more. Having their support plays a big role as we seek to achieve big things.”

Looking to climb back into the Premier League’s top four after slipping down to fifth following a damaging 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United last weekend, Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils will know that anything less than a win against Thomas Frank’s Bees will not be good enough.

And Antony, should he start, will undoubtedly play a big part in how the side performs, at both ends of the pitch. Vital to Ten Hag’s defensive system, as well as offering a dynamic attacking threat, the former Ajax winger will be hoping to add to his eight direct contributions tonight.

Wednesday night’s game at home is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. (BST) but will not be televised live in the UK.
