Luke Shaw has agreed to sign a new Manchester United contract.

The left-back’s current deal expires in 2024 and he has been one of United’s key players this season under Erik ten Hag.

That means he deserves a new deal and I think the majority of United fans will be happy about the news which initially came from The Telegraph.

According to The Sun, the new contract is an extension for a further four years.

The 27-year-old’s current deal was extended by 12 months in December – but Shaw is set to ensure his long-term future belongs at Old Trafford.

Shaw has been a United player since 2014 when he joined in a £30 million move from Southampton.

Injury troubles and not seeing eye-to-eye with previous managers put Shaw on a difficult path, but he seems to have found his role in the team under Ten Hag and long may that continue.

Tyrell Malacia also deserves credit for pushing Shaw on because he has never had fierce competition at left-back until this season.

Left-back is one position we don’t need to strengthen this summer. That’s another way to look at how we’ve improved since Ten Hag’s appointment.
