PSG expected to join summer race for Manchester United target

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to compete with several clubs across Europe in the race for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

Italian outlet La Gazzetto dello Sport confirmed that Napoli will try and keep Osimhen at the club with the premise of a new and improved contract amid interest from several top clubs across Europe.

The forward currently earns €4.3 million per season but would expect a significant pay increase of around €1.7 million to stay in Naples, with other clubs, such as PSG and Manchester United, more likely to meet his wage demands.

Previously, Arsenal and Newcastle United had enquired about the possibility of signing the prolific striker, so it’s possible they could also return this summer to reignite their pursuit.

Osimhen is expected to cost upwards of €150 million due to his outstanding performances and contributions to the Serie A side this season; currently, he is on 25 goals and five assists in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has been incredibly pivotal to Napoli’s form, which has them sitting atop the league table with a 19-point advantage over second-placed Lazio and in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

United must acquire a prolific goalscorer

Erik ten Hag will know a striker is the main priority when the summer transfer window opens and has seemingly shortlisted the Nigerian along with Harry Kane.

Competing with PSG for Osimhen could mean forking out even more money to try and trump the French giants, who will certainly offer him a lucrative package to lure him to the Parc des Princes.
