La Liga leaders Barcelona have reportedly enquired about the availability of Diogo Dalot.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Dalot remains a target for Barcelona. It has been long believed that the Blaugrana will be looking for a new right-back and they were initially linked with a move for the Manchester United star last year.

There’s no denying that Dalot may have dipped in form since the World Cup, but his performances during the first half of the season had everyone impressed.

At 23, I don’t think he is a player Erik ten Hag will want to let go anytime soon.

Xavi Hernandez has gone with new signing Jules Kounde at right-back for the most part this season. The Frenchman is a centre-back by trade so it will be interesting to see what the La Liga giants will do in the summer. After all, we’re not expecting them to get a positive response from United.

SN’s verdict

Dalot has shown too much promise this season to sell him now. I think he’s more likely to get a new contract at United than move.
