Manchester United-linked striker confirms desire to play in Premier League

Manchester United target Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League amid interest from several top clubs.

The Nigerian is currently enjoying the season of his career so far and has been instrumental to Napoli’s run of form, which has them 15 points clear on top of Serie A and in the last-16 of the Champions League.

It’s no secret that a clinical striker will be top of Erik ten Hag’s transfer list in the summer and given the fact Osimhen has netted 21 times and contributed four assists in 26 appearances, he could be the manager’s priority as soon as the window opens.

Anthony Martial’s time as a Red will reportedly come to an end when the 2022/23 campaign draws to a close. He has contributed several memorable goals and performances for the team, but his ongoing injury and fitness concerns have made him too unreliable as a first-choice No.9 for a club competing at the highest level.

Osimhen will likely push for a move himself though, as when he spoke to The Athletic, he confirmed his intent to eventually make the switch to England’s top division.

“A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”

United will face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the 24-year-old, who is expected to have a hefty price tag attached for the English clubs that want to prise him out of Naples.
