Manchester United pair called up by Argentina

After two months of high intensity across four competitions, the Manchester United squad will be breaking up for two weeks later this month as the final international break of the season looms large.

Some players will be given the opportunity to rest up and work on the specifics at Carrington and Alejandro Garnacho, who has been one of those players for the last couple of international breaks, will now be making the trip to Argentina.

The 18-year-old has been called up by Argentina for their upcoming fixtures against Panama and Curacao, with Reds team-mate Lisandro Martinez also named in the squad.

Garnacho’s inclusion comes after he grew into an increasingly crucial player for United under Erik ten Hag, having won him over after previously struggling to convince the manager during pre-season.

His most recent exploit came in the FA Cup fifth-round clash against West Ham, with Garnacho scoring a timely 90th-minute winner – his second late winner of the season.

SN’s verdict…
Garnacho has previously represented Spain at youth level but has not publicly committed to either nation but his inclusion in the latest Argentina squad is a sign that he has made his mind up.

Furthermore, he was also part of the senior squad this time last year but did not make an appearance. He will now be hoping to make his senior bow for the World Champions.
