Manchester United midfielder Fred believes experience will be key at Camp Nou

Manchester United midfielder Fred is preparing for the Europa League clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Thursday.

The 29-year-old is a likely starter tomorrow in midfield alongside the returning Casemiro, which is something he has done not just for Manchester United but Brazil.

United go into the game in top form having lost one once across all competitions since the World Cup. Meanwhile, Barca are 11 points clear of rivals Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.

Ahead of the game, Fred insists the big-game knowledge within this United team is crucial. We also have players such as Raphael Varane and Casemiro who battled with Barcelona for the biggest honours in Spain during their time at Real Madrid. They won’t be strangers to Camp Nou!

“We have good experience, but now we just need to win,” Fred told club media, as per ManUtd.com, ahead of the first leg.

“I know it’s difficult to play in the Camp Nou, we know they have good players, but we can win.

“We know about the Camp Nou, everything, but we have enough players that have experience to go to [the] Camp Nou and win this game.”

On top of that, Fred is aware of the challenge that faces United.

He added: “We expect it is a difficult game, everyone knows about Barcelona, we need [to be] careful, but it’s [the] Europa League, we need to win both games and we need to pass this phase.

“Both teams are improving right now, constructing good things. So, I think the fans can expect a big game, both teams trying to play, both teams trying to score goals and I hope, in the end, we win.”
