Predicted Manchester United XI vs Reading: Ten Hag to make 5 changes

Erik ten Hag will want to ensure Manchester United are still fighting on all fronts by the end of this week. After beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, the Red Devils are on the verge of returning to Wembley, but there’s still a lot of football to be played in the FA Cup.

By reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup, Ten Hag will maximise the chances of winning at least one trophy this season and United shouldn’t have any issues on Saturday against a mid-table Championship side. We reckon there could be up to five changes from the team that started against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Jack Butland could make his debut for the club following a loan move from Crystal Palace.

While we wait on Ten Hag to provide an update on Diogo Dalot’s fitness, we’ll just assume that Aaron Wan-Bisska will start as the only fit right-back available to the manager. He will be joined in defence by Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.

Casemiro will be joined by Fred and Bruno Fernandes.

Up front we could see Jadon Sancho make a return along with Alejandro Garnacho and Wout Weghorst. The Dutchman will be looking to score his second goal in as many games.

Predicted Manchester United XI vs Reading: Butland; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes; Sancho, Weghorst, Garnacho.

  1. EtH doesn’t seem like he’s up for too much rotation right now. He may start a stronger side and makes use of subs around the 55th minute – by which time the game is hopefully won. Players more likely to be rested for the return leg against Forest.

    1. That’s what I was thinking. I wouldn’t start Casemiro, Fernandes, Martinez, and AWB in this match. Then if not winning my 60th, then I could bring them in
