(Video) ‘He’ll be back’ – Teddy Sheringham can’t see Harry Maguire having future at United

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes there is no way back for Harry Maguire under Erik ten Hag.

The England centre-back finds himself several places down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag despite holding the responsibility of club captain.

In recent weeks when Ten Hag has decisions to make at the back, he has overlooked Maguire to play Luke Shaw at centre-back on several occasions, which tells you everything you need to know about whether or not he is part of the manager’s plans.

The writing it on the wall for Maguire, but I suspect he will remain at the club in January. There will be plenty of time to sort his future in the summer.

Sheringham doesn’t see a way back for Maguire

Former United striker Teddy Sheringham has no doubt that Maguire excels when on international duty, but he believes that leaving Old Trafford will help him play regular football again.

Sheringham said (via talkSPORT): “I’ve always been a big admirer of Harry Maguire. You could see over the last couple of years at Manchester United that they haven’t really worked on the back four, but every time he’s played for England he’s never let them down.

“He looks a composed centre-half when he plays for England.

“He’ll be back, I don’t think he’ll be back for Manchester United. When Luke Shaw plays at left side centre-half instead of the big man, I think the writing’s on the wall.”
