Manchester United willing to swap duo for AC Milan defender

Some media outlets will claim absolutely anything to gain a few clicks.

That is what we are accusing Calciomercato of doing with their latest report on Manchester United’s apparently willingness to offer Serie A giants AC Milan Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial in exchange for left-back Theo Hernandez.

It feels that we might see an increase in transfer waffle as Erik ten Hag refused to rule out more January additions when asked on Friday. That gives media outlets like Calciomercato more room to link Manchester United with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

But this potential deal doesn’t even make any sense.

While patience is wearing thin on Martial, the complete opposite is happening with Dalot.

The 23-year-old is having his best season yet and there’s no way Ten Hag is planning to throw him into a swoop deal for Hernandez. Not only has he blossomed for his club, but Portugal fans were calling for Dalot to start ahead of Man City’s Joao Cancelo at the World Cup in Qatar.

It would be such a strange decision to get rid of Dalot and that is why I don’t buy these reports from Italy.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw has been one of the best left-backs in Europe this season, so why we United be in the market for Hernandez when we’ve just signed Tyrell Malacia as a contender for the position.

It would be a surprise if left-back became a priority in summer when United already have two good options for the role.
