(Video) Gary Neville predicts Man United will finish above Arsenal after derby win

Manchester United are enjoying their best form since Sir Alex Ferguson retired nine years ago and Erik ten Hag, the man tasked with turning the club’s fortunes around, has done a magnificent job after just six months in the job.

Ten Hag oversaw broad changes in the club’s structure on and off the pitch last summer and his license to control football-related matters is now paying dividends.

Two games at the start of the season aside, United have been relentless this season and are now on the verge of seriously challenging for the Premier League title.

Their latest signal of intent, a deserved victory over cross-city rivals Manchester City, has further underlined that the Reds are capable of challenging favourites Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s men are nine points clear at the top of the table but will face both Manchester sides within the next month and that could define the rest of the season.

Speaking after United recorded their ninth straight win in all competitions, former United skipper Gary Neville predicted that his former side would finish above Arsenal but that they would, after all, slip behind City in the title race.

“No,” Neville told Sky Sports, as seen above when asked if Arsenal were going to become champions for the first time since 2004.

“But I said Leicester wouldn’t win the league. They won’t win the league and I think Manchester United will finish second and I know that will annoy Arsenal fans. It has annoyed them all season.

“I’d rather Arsenal win the league than Manchester City. I think that would be absolutely sensational for the Premier League. When I think about watching the Premier League, we’ve seen City sweep up almost, apart from Liverpool, in five years.

“To think Arsenal could come through and win it, it adds to our league, it makes our league great. Of course, I’d love Manchester United to come and win it but that, I don’t think is going to happen this season.”
