Paul Scholes waxed lyrical about Alejandro Garnacho after the Manchester derby.
The 18-year-old came on with 18 minutes left on the clock and became the youngest player to assist a goal in a Manchester derby. Garnacho sent a low cross into the box for Rashford to score his 16th goal of the season.
Speaking on BT Sport after the match, Scholes suggested the Argentine should have come on before Antony, who replaced Anthony Martial at half-time.
Scholes said (via Manchester Evening News): “I think a special mention for Garnacho as well, he was a massive influence when he came on.
“I’d argue a bit more of an influence than Antony was — and he’s shown when he came into the game he can be so quick, it looks like he’s going to score goals, runs through all the time, and makes United look really dangerous.”
He added: “He’s been good every time I’ve seen him. I think he’s been a real threat. I thought he should have come on before Antony, who does have his strengths, don’t get me wrong.
“But his lad [Garnacho] is direct, he doesn’t care, there’s no fear in a young player. He wants to score goals and he wants to make goals and he’s more than capable of doing it.”
