Louis Saha urges Manchester United to sign Chelsea goalkeeper

Louis Saha thinks Manchester United should look to Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy if they decide to replace David de Gea in the summer.

De Gea, 32, has just six months left on his current deal and has made it very clear that he wants to stay at the club.

However, with De Gea keen to remain at Old Trafford, the Spanish goalkeeper must wait to learn his fate.

Saha recommends Chelsea shot-stopper Mindy as the ideal replacement for De Gea.

“De Gea is still right at the top level, but of course making mistakes like he did against Everton is never good,” Saha told Boyle Sports, as per The Mirror.

“Over the years, De Gea has done tremendous performances to save the team and he deserves the time and credit for that.

“If De Gea doesn’t sign a new contract then a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy would make perfect sense. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world the last few years and I’m not sure what happened.”

De Gea was at fault for an embarrassing mistake in Friday’s 3-1 win over Everton in the FA Cup. He somehow allowed Neal Maupay’s cross through his legs before Coady found the back of the net.

Mendy, 30, has been at Chelsea since his transfer from Stade Rennes in 2020.

Is he the Chelsea goalkeeper someone you would like to sign in the summer?
