Diogo Dalot exits Carabao Cup quarter-final early through injury

Diogo Dalot was forced off the pitch during Manchester United’s Carabao Cup quarter-final tie with Charlton Athletic.

The 23-year-old started the match but exited before the half-time interval and exited straight down the tunnel, according to Rob Dawson of ESPN.

Dalot had only just returned after sustaining an injury during international duty at the World Cup with Portugal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was substituted to replace him. He made four consecutive starts during Dalot’s recent absence.

Concern for Erik ten Hag

Saturday holds a must-win clash for the Reds as they face rivals Manchester City in a highly-anticipated derby match at Old Trafford.

Dalot has been Ten Hag’s first choice throughout the season and has impressed defensively and in attack. It now gives the manager a difficult situation to manage when it comes to assessing the Portugal international’s fitness.

Wan-Bissaka has, however, looked faultless when called upon and is still a reliable option for the fixture.
