Manchester United stance on Harry Maguire speculation

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire expects to stay at Manchester United beyond the January transfer window, despite widespread speculation over a potential transfer to another Premier League club.

Aston Villa emerged as odds on favourites to complete the signing of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire after punters got giddy at a picture that surfaced on social media showing the England man at a bar in Lichfield.

This led to questions from the media and a report from the Manchester Evening News claims sources close to Maguire and United say they have found the speculation ‘laughable’. The centre-back is believed to have gone to The Belfry to play golf.

So, a golf trip rather than transfer talks with Aston Villa?

Ten Hag may want to keep Maguire for the remainder of the season – to cover himself in defence – but there is a feeling that his days are numbered at Old Trafford. However, I don’t get the impression he will want to spend another season on the bench when he could be play every week elsewhere.

I don’t think United is the right club for Maguire and it’s clear he has fallen down the pecking order under Ten Hag. That is why I think the club would be foolish not to listen to offers.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Maguire will get many games between now and the end of the season.
