Martinez returns: predicted Man United line-up vs Everton

Manchester United are currently enjoying their best form under Erik ten Hag and the Dutchman is looking for his seventh consecutive win in all competitions later this week as Everton make the trip to Old Trafford.

Frank Lampard’s Everton form is the complete opposite of United’s with the Merseyside club slipping into another relegation battle after last year’s nervy ending to the season.

This game, the third round of the FA Cup, comes just three days after the Reds comfortably claimed three points against Bournemouth in the Premier League. It is likely that Ten Hag will rotate his side before their game against Charlton in the Carabao Cup early next week.

David de Gea has started all Premier League games but Martin Dubravka, who has now returned to Newcastle after he was recalled, has started the Carabao Cup games.

It remains to be seen whether Ten Hag continues to rest De Gea for domestic cup games but if that is the case, Tom Heaton is likely to start.

Diogo Dalot could make his highly anticipated return after his cameo against Bournemouth, whilst the same can be said for World Cup winner Lisandro Martinez. Tyrell Malacia was rested against the Cherries and is likely to come back in.

Scott McTominay and Fred are almost certain to replace Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the side, with Anthony Martial also among the players who could drop to the bench.

Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): Heaton; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; McTominay, Fred; Elanga, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford
