David de Gea shuts down Spanish reporter over Alejandro Garnacho question

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea did not react too kindly to a Spanish journalist who posed a question about Alejandro Garnacho’s future.

Garnacho’s current deal runs until 2024 and Manchester United have the option of an additional year.

Despite the fact there is time remaining on his contact, United will be under pressure to tie Garancho down to a long-time deal to fend of the reported interest from Real Madrid.

Garnacho is on the verge of breaking into the United line-up and it looks like Jadon Sancho will be the one to feel the most pressure when everyone returns to training after the World Cup break.

It begs the question: why would he leave if he’s getting the game time he desires? For that reason alone, this doesn’t feel like a similar situation to when Paul Pogba initially left Manchester for Turin.

With the squad currently in Spain, a reporter took the opportunity to ask Garnacho about his future. De Gea intervened and told reporters (via Manchester Evening News): “We won’t let him leave.”

Garnahco has already scored in the Premier League and Europa League. He will be looking to add to his tally when the domestic action returns.
