Casemiro’s start to life at Manchester United has exceeded all expectations and although everyone was aware of his immense talent, it has still taken supporters by surprise.
Erik ten Hag waited several weeks to regularly use Casemiro but one start is all it took for the Brazilian to permanently engrave his name into the Dutchman’s teamsheet.
Since his first start against Everton in October, Casemiro has been a mainstay in the side and is now arguably the best signing of the summer.
The 30-year-old was at his brilliant best once again for Brazil on Monday evening, scoring the winner against Switzerland in a hard-fought win for the South American giants, which secured their passage into the round of 16.
Brazil star Neymar Jr was ruled out of the game due to an injury sustained in the previous fixture against Serbia but speaking after the game, he hailed Casemiro as the best in the world.

“Casemiro has been the best midfielder in the world for a long time,” the Paris Saint-Germain superstar wrote on Twitter after the game.
Neymar’s praise is the latest in a long line of salutations for the combative midfielder and it’s difficult to argue against that opinion – his class has shone through since he joined United.
At 30, he is now in his peak years and United will be delighted to hopefully enjoy his best years as a professional football. The start has been spectacular.
