Bruno Fernandes: It was a dream come true to play alongside Ronaldo at United

Bruno Fernandes has spoken out regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United.

His ‘imminent’ exit was announced yesterday by the club after they announced a mutual agreement had been reached to terminate the forward’s contract.

The decision came after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan last week, in which he detailed his lack of respect for Erik ten Hag and other senior figures at United. He also made allegations towards former teammates and the club.

Fernandes will still play alongside the 37-year-old for Portugal, and they will begin their quest to lift the lucrative World Cup trophy tomorrow evening against Ghana.

Fernandes reflects on Ronaldo’s exit

In a pre-match press conference shared by Football Daily, he said: “I don’t feel uncomfortable, I don’t have to pick a side. He’s always been an inspiration to me. It was a dream come true to play with him at Manchester United but nothing lasts forever.

“He didn’t tell me about his decision. It’s a personal decision and it concerns him and his family. We haven’t talked about it. Everyone here is focused on the goal – national team and the World Cup.”
