Harry Maguire assisted Bukayo Saka to double England’s lead at the Khalifa International Stadium.
His Manchester United teammate, Luke Shaw, also contributed an assist for the opening goal.
Maguire has silenced the doubters straight away after a dominant first-half performance and goal contribution has proved exactly why Gareth Southgate opted to start him.
Maguire’s form for England has never waivered
The 29-year-old may have fallen down the pecking order at club level but is looking to make a statement in Qatar and continue his form for his national team after an outstanding Euro 2020 campaign, in which he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
