Luke Shaw praises United-linked Jude Bellingham ahead of World Cup

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has praised England teammate Jude Bellingham.

This will strike an interest with United fans who are hopeful that the club try to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder next summer.

But there won’t be a shortage of interest from clubs around Europe if Dortmund make the 19-year-old available in the transfer market. Other Premier League outfits reportedly chasing Bellingham’s signature include Liverpool and Man City.

However, CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs recently told Football Transfers that the England international will follow in Erling Haaland’s footsteps in grading his potential suitors. The Norwegian striker left Dortmund in the summer for Man City and already has 18 Premier League goals to his name.

Speaking to England’s YouTube channel, Shaw said Bellingham is the player who has surprised him most in the World Cup camp.

“I could pick anyone in the England team… this is so hard. I think the one for me is who I have been like most surprised about is when he first got involved, was Jude.

“He’s so young now but the talent he possesses is unbelievable, he is unbelievable. He can do everything in that middle, he can drive with the ball, he’s aggressive, he is unbelievable. Over the past couple of years being in the squad with him, he has always had the talent, but he is starting to gain the experience and he’s becoming more into a man.”

Bellingham has shown consistency again this season for Dortmund, which is admirable for such a young player, registering 12 goal contributions in 22 games.

I think when it comes down to concluding a transfer for Bellingham next year, United won’t be willing to meet Dortmund’s valuation because they will need to prioritise other areas of the team, despite transfer links from Sky Sports.

We can’t not forget that the Glazers still own the club and the money they could save on sacking Ronaldo will likely end up in their back pockets through dividend payments rather than investing in the team.
