Ronaldo accuses Neville of using him to build his own profile

Cristiano Ronaldo has accused Gary Neville of using him to boost his own profile as a football pundit, when explaining why he blanked the former Manchester United defender a few weeks ago.

A decision was made by Ronaldo to speak exclusively to Piers Morgan on TalkTV, with snippets being drip-feed across social media to build hype around the midweek airing on Wednesday and Thursday night.

Ronaldo took aim at Erik ten Hag, club directors, Ralf Rangnick and Wayne Rooney.

However, in the latest clip released on Monday night, Ronaldo accused Neville of criticising him only to boost his own fame.

The 37-year-old told Morgan about how he feels when criticised by Neville and Rooney: “To listen to ex-colleagues or team-mates criticise you, when they only see one point of view. It’s easy.

“It’s easy to criticise, I don’t know if you have job in television that they must criticise to be more famous. I really don’t understand it.

“It’s hard when you see people who was in the dressing room with you criticising that way.”

Morgan pushed Ronaldo further on Neville by asking whether the criticism came from a place where he was trying to build his profile.

It genuinely sounds like Ronaldo told Morgan what questions to ask…

Ronaldo is simply showing that his petulant ways stop him from accepting constructive criticism. Does he really believe that everyone else is at fault for his own demise as a footballer?
