(Video) Harry Maguire reacts to being named in England’s World Cup squad

Gareth Southgate named his England squad for this winter’s World Cup earlier on Thursday and three Manchester United players were included.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford were all named in the 26-man squad and thus retain their places from the squad that reached the EURO 2020 final.

Dean Henderson and Jadon Sancho, the other two United players to make the squad for EURO 2020, were not included to play in Qatar later this month.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s game against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup, Harry Maguire has delivered his reaction to being called up for his second World Cup, admitting it’s a big day for him and his family.

“Yeah, very proud day for myself and my family,” Maguire told Football Daily, as seen above.

“To represent your country at a World Cup is the pinnacle of everybody’s career. So it’s a very proud moment for myself but, obviously, fully focused on tonight and getting a result to get us into the next round.”

United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford in a replay of last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Villa Park, with the loss putting an end to Erik ten Hag’s nine-game unbeaten run.
