Casemiro has reacted to winning Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for October.
Casemiro has made an instant impact since becoming a regular starter under Erik ten Hag.
The manager took a while to fully implement the 30-year-old in United’s starting eleven as Casemiro adjusted to the switch from La Liga to the Premier League, but now he has, he is irreplaceable in the line-up.
His experience is invaluable to the team, especially given the amount of younger players United possess. To have the five-time Champions League winner starting in midfield gives the supporters and players more confidence in the stability and strength of the squad.
Casemiro’s last-gasp equaliser at Stamford Bridge in October made fans love him even more than they already did, as his celebration showed the passion he has to play for the Red Devils and what it means to score your first goal for the club.
The Brazilian has been called up to his national team, along with fellow Reds Fred and Antony, to feature at the forthcoming World Cup tournament.
Casemiro reacts to Player of the Month award
In an interview with MUTV, Casemiro said: “I think that it’s very important winning this award, above all, particularly when it’s at a big club like Manchester United, but the main thing here is how we’re playing and our current form as a group
“We know in football that these individual awards, well for me, at any rate, if I’m being honest, are always a bit difficult to talk about, because you play with eleven in this game but, of course, I’m happy to have been voted Player of the Month.
“It’s like I was saying, I feel very happy indeed. Even before this award, I’ve always felt the real affection and warmth of the supporters and fans towards me. Everyone at the club has been very kind to me too. I repeat though, of course it’s a big thing to receive an award like this one, but I think that the most important thing is the team.
“The group is the key thing here. At the end of the day, you play football with everyone, using the whole squad and combining with your team-mates. So, it’s important for sure, but you always have to be thinking about the team.”
He added: “A big thank you to everyone for all the affection that I’ve felt from my very first day here, I feel just like I’ve been around here for a long time already, so thanks a lot for that. Thanks very much for all your support, both home and away, which is the most important thing.
“ I think you believe in us, that we’re working hard and trying to give everything we have out there on the pitch, so that we all can be happy, all of us together. That’s the main thing, that we’re working hard in order to make ourselves happy, and also to wish and bring happiness to yourselves too. And so, by sticking together with your support, and your backing from the stands too, that will help us all tremendously.”
