Lisandro Martinez is reportedly “protective” over 18-year-old Alejandro Garnacho, who is the only other Argentinian at the club.

Garnacho is making a statement in the Manchester United’s first-team squad after netting his first goal just one week after making his senior debut. The youngster looks confident and lively on the pitch and is certainly convincing Erik ten Hag to trust him with more game time.

Despite being Madrid-born, Garnacho opted to represent Argentina at international level and was called up to the senior squad in 2022. He didn’t feature for the team, but to have trained with Lionel Messi and been assisted by Cristiano Ronaldo for your first goal is not something every teenager can say.

His fellow Argentinian is also making a name for himself in England this season, Lisandro Martinez is one of the most in-form defenders across Europe right now. He has become an instant fan favourite amongst the Old Trafford faithful and is an invaluable piece to Ten Hag’s exciting project at United.

Martinez’s connection with Garnacho

According to Samuel Luckhurst of MEN: “Sources say Martinez treats Garnacho akin to a younger brother and is particularly protective of his compatriot.

“Martinez arrived with the requisite mentality for a United player and there is a feeling he is hothousing Garnacho”.
