Chelsea look set to join Manchester United in race to sign Benjamin Sesko after meeting with agent

Benjamin Sesko was on Manchester United’s radar during the summer, but he agreed to sign for RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg, which means the Bundesliga club could make a profit towards a signing who hasn’t even kicked a ball for the club yet.

A pre-contract agreement was reached between the two clubs in the summer for next summer, but the Slovenian may not even get to make an appearance for Leipzig if bigger clubs come knocking in the coming months.

Phil Brown stated last night that United will be in the race to sign Sesko, but fresh reports suggest that Chelsea could join us after the player’s agent Elvis Basanovic was spotted meeting with Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali during the week.

On Tuesday night, Chelsea beat Salzburg 2-1 in the Champions League and it looks like Boehly took the opportunity to discuss Sesko’s future – to see whether there is a chance to swoop in before he gets a season under his belt at Leipzig.

Manchester United interested in Benjamin Sesko

Friend of the Strettycast, Phil Brown, is one we trust when it comes to inside information on all things United.

He claims United are still ‘very’ interested in Sesko, with a push for his signature likely to come in the summer instead of January.

Phil adds that there is a good chance Sesko will never kick a ball for Leipzig.

Let us know in the comments section if you think United should make Benjamin Sesko a priority next summer? That would make him Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement and leading competitor with Anthony Martial for the centre-forward role.
