Lisandro Martinez aims to put Manchester United where they deserve to be

Lisandro Martinez has set his sights on restoring the success of Manchester United and winning silverware with the club.

The 24-year-old has become an instant fan-favourite amongst the Old Trafford faithful for his passion and commitment shown in games. He is a talented centre-back but offers a significant attacking threat with his passing ability moving up the pitch.

He was named United’s Player of the Month for August and has picked up four clean sheets in the Premier League this season. Martinez paired with Raphael Varane looks to be the club’s most solid and promising centre-back partnership for several years.

The Argentinian is keen to achieve with the Red Devils throughout his time in Manchester. He has adjusted to the pace of the English top flight quickly after a shaky start to the season but is confident in the team going forward.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “Sometimes we have to be patient, you know. Especially in the beginning, we know that we did not play how we wanted. But it is part of football, we learn. It is experience. We have a new team, a new system. Now we have to keep going.”

He added: “It is difficult. Especially in football, you don’t have time. If you lose you are a really bad player or a really bad team. But we know what we are. We have to be calm, we have to be patient, and always try hard.”

Regarding bringing success to the club this season, Martinez replied: “For sure, our ambition is to win titles, to put Manchester United where they deserve [to be].

“I think we are in a good way to do it. But we have to keep out feet on the ground, we have to be humble and take it step by step.”
