Casemiro is set for another start at the weekend when Manchester United play host to Newcastle in the Premier League, but the Brazilian midfielder was lucky not to have got seriously injured in Thursday night’s Europa League win over Omonia Nicosia.
The former Real Madrid star has now started three consecutive games and he produced a solid display against Omonia, after being voted man of the match against Everton at the weekend.
Casemiro even came close to scoring in the first half when goalkeeper Francis Uzoho got a fingertip on his long-range effort as the ball smashed off the bar.
However, in the 68th minute, Casemiro was on the receiving end of a two-footed challenge. It looked a blatant red card, but the referee let Moreto Cassama walk away with just a yellow card.

It was the sort of challenge that could easily result in a serious injury.
Thankfully, Casemiro walked it off and was able to play on before Ten Hag decided to bring on match-winner Scott McTominay.
